Easy Roasted Turkey

When it comes to Thanksgiving, a time-saving, easy roasted turkey recipe is what many busy moms look for. One that's going to take minimal work to prepare in order to free up time to make casseroles, stuffing, pies and all the rest.

If you Google "easy roast turkey", you'll find an endless supply of recipe sites with a variety of cooking methods including using different temperatures, time frames, etc. It can be confusing especially knowing that turkey needs to be cooked to a certain temperature for safe eating.





I'm not sure why the Thanksgiving turkey seemed to cook for an entire day when I was young but it's really not necessary. To save you time and effort looking through several recipes and debating which method to use, try this easy turkey recipe and enjoy a delicious, crispy and moist turkey with minimal effort.

There's nothing quite like that special moment on Thanksgiving when the host/hostess brings the beautiful golden brown turkey to the dining table. Yep, its' the turkey that's the "center of attention" on Thanksgiving Day.



Easy Roasted Turkey Recipe

Defrost turkey in refrigerator for 2-3 days depending on it's weight.

Ingredients

  • Thawed turkey
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Foil
  • Roasting rack and pan

Directions

  • Remove neck and giblets
  • Rinse the with cold, running water
  • Pat dry
  • Butter the turkey all over
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Add any additional spices you like
  • Place the turkey on rack in roasting pan
  • Cover bottom of pan with water - minimal
  • Wrap the entire turkey and pan in foil making a foil tent
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  • Bake the turkey approximately 8-10 minutes per pound

Remove turkey when the internal temperature has reached a minimum of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Place the turkey on a serving platter.

Let it "rest" for about 15 minutes because it will continue baking when removed from the oven.

"Resting" allows the turkey to cool down and makes it easier to carve.
